Halloween

One-Hundred-Fifty-Six.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! The family came down to visit today. My mom brought me some pumpkin bars. Yum! I also finished my lab 6 days early. It was great to see them all again.

Celebrating 3 Years

One-Hundred-Fifty-Five.

Today Patty and I celebrated 3 years of dating each other. I can't believe it has been that long. Seems like it was just yesterday that I asked her to help me with my calculus homework, and she catapulted herself into my life. She makes me so very happy and I hope to have many more years with her. For our anniversary we went out to dinner (Olive Garden) [real classy, I know]. We also went to see R&J on Anderson. Beautiful show. EB did a great job lighting designing!

I love you Patty!

Gorilla Banana!

One-Hundred-Fifty-Four.

First LineUs show of the year was today. Hilarious as usual. Afterwards Patty and I went to ST, TA, MK and LB's room for a Halloween party. Great friends, epic costumes, crappy movies...perfect.

Vigil

One-Hundred-Fifty-Three.

Today I met with my Theatre history prof to discuss my paper. He said that I was a decent writer, but I need to unpack my ideas. I have never been that great of a writer, but he was confident that if I applied myself, I'd do alright on the final draft. On campus today a large group of students and staff (Theatre Dept. IAWA and other campus organizations) put on a candlelight vigil for people who have been lost because of harassment (especially sexuality harassment). I did some camera work for the vigil, but it is not in photo form. I filmed a video that is not yet edited, but I thought it was close enough to be a photo of the day. The day I upload it, I will link back to this post and publish the video below.

R&J Photocall

One-Hundred-Fifty-Two.

I got my haircut today at Nate's Barber Shop in St. Peter. He is a pretty cool guy, and he cuts my hair very well.  Today was also the photo call for R&J. Henry invited me to come, so I did.

Slipped Belt

One-Hundred-Fifty-One.

I went over to my grandparents house today before I had to head back to school. I love hearing all of the stories they have to tell. They recently had a room in their house renovated and were excited to show it off. I also backed up all of my photos there (we store a hard drive there as an off-site backup). Grandma made me a ham and swiss sandwich. I love them so much. It started to get later, so I had to leave. Then an interesting tale begun:

I was driving home in the rain and hit a puddle on Foley Blvd. This was such a forceful impact that a belt was thrown off. I noticed immediately when the power steering failed, but determined to get back to my house and be picked up by Patty I thought I could finish the drive without power steering. Little did I know, this belt also controlled the radiator fan and the alternator. I realized this after getting onto the freeway and looking at the engine temperature. I knew I had better pull over. Luckily I was able to call my family and work everything out, and special thanks to my uncle JH for picking me up.

I got back to school a little later than I would have liked, but it was ok because Patty and I ate at Patrick's for dinner.

Shoes

One-Hundred-Fifty.

Woke up at Bethel after BB and his roommate B? got back. Naturally they take chapel time to play video games, I played with them. They were playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. It seemed really similar to starwars battle front, but way more realistic. Later, I ate lunch with them and my brother. Then I went to his room to see a cool game about weapon combos and zombies. Later that night, I went home and then went shopping with Mom. She bought me some new shoes. I took a picture of my iPod today because Apple finally released a software update for it that was free, so I downloaded it. Now my calendars sync really well.

Spontaneous Sleepover

One-Hundred-Forty-Nine.

Finished up the paper after church and submitted it. Then I went to the Guthrie with the rest of my crew (sans Patty but with BB instead). We saw the world premiere of The Master Butcher's Singing Club. KW (a gustie alum) worked in the costume shop for this show, they looked great KW! After the show, I went back to Bethel with Phillip and BB. I hung out with BB and his friends at Old Chicago and stayed the night in his dorm there. The picture for today is a staged pic of me sleeping (implying that I fell asleep watching Hulu).

Worked on my paper most of the day. Being around my family is great though. I like being home. Also, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to my Mom and Dad (28 years).

Network Packet Analysis

One-Hundred-Forty-Seven.

This is a chart I created using Google docs for my lab which I am working on from home (it is due tonight). If you are more interested in this lab, visit its page. My parents and Grandma came to get me after class because it is my fall break. I also learned today that my paper that was due Tuesday wasn't a sufficient rough draft, and I have till Sunday to make a better one. My fall break got a little shorter, but I know I will have time to work on it.

Why Won't This Week Die?

Cultural Anthro test today, probably did crappy on it. The set is done and it is crew view for R&J. I think this show is going to be awesome, and think you all should come.

Windom

One-Hundred-Forty-Four.

Today I went to Windom, MN with SC and her roommates (AK and NA). I don't know them very well, but this gave me a chance to get to know them a little bit better (as well as all of the populations of all of the cities and townships on the way). The reason I went with is because her father (LC) does technical things in the high school theatre, but doesn't know a lot about the equipment. I went to teach and troubleshoot. It was kind of strange being surrounded by so much estrogen. I readdressed some of their dimmer packs so there were no longer any address collisions happening. Afterwards LC drove me back to his house and I sat by the fire with the other gals and ate some puppy chow. It was a fun trip made possible by the networking of people (which I think is awesome). I didn't bring my camera along on the trip, but I shot some graham crackers before going to bed.

I stayed up really late working on things for school. Apparently the SPFD wanted to flush the hydrants before winter, I was awake when they did.

First computer networking test was today, it went pretty well (I hope). BN made food for Patty's apartment. It was a lot of food, and the stir fry was really good. I went to bed early to catch up on sleep.

Giant Walls

One-Hundred-Thirty-Eight.

I worked for 5 hours today in the theatre. My expert knot tying (not really expert, but I am pretty decent) made me a valuable asset. Long story short, all of the painted flats are up (you get to see them in tomorrow's post). After that I went to Mankato with Patty. We ended up buying our Halloween costumes and eating Chipotle. Here is the bag that held my costume:

I was very bored today and Patty, DM and AB-G were doing a math assignment, so I went out at night to the arb to take some night photos. Here is what I came up with:

Door Decor

One-Hundred-Thirty-Six.

I woke up and finished my 23 problem homework assignment in time for class (whew!). After work I sat around on the internet until we made dinner. PD's mom sent a dinner that was ready to be cooked. After that I read Mandragola, another play for class, with EB. After that I watched the Simpsons with Patty. Then I caught up on my blog while watching the Vikings get their butts kicked. I also submitted some of my photos (B&W) to the literary magazine on campus. We will see if anything I submitted will get in! DM told me that he and DS decorated our door. So I went and took a picture of it.

As you can see, I am the top-left (skeleton). AB-G is the top-right (Frankenstein's monster). DM is the bottom left (Frankenstein's Monster). PD is the bottom-right (Monster). Thanks DS for the awesome door decorations!

Commuting Day

One-Hundred-Thirty-Five.

I woke up really early to play bells at church. I think I am getting better at sight reading music the day of the performance. When I got home, my dad showed me a wasp's nest that was removed from our tree. I started to tear it apart (the bees were long gone). Inside the nest I found some cells that were unopened, so I opened them. Inside the unopened cells I found a full wasp that had never been born. It was weird holding a dried wasp that was perfectly cylindrical. I decided to honor the dead with a mini photo session. (On a related note, I need a good macro lens). My family then went down to GAC to hear Patty sing in the G-Choir. After that we all drove up to the cities again for a show at the Guthrie. We arrived at 7:30 thinking we were early for a 8:00 show, but as it turns out it was a 7:00 show. Luckily, we are subscribers so we are able to return the tickets after the show date. I still have no idea how I spaced this. This was probably a blessing however, because I was able to get back to GAC earlier to do 23 computer science problems. We left for GAC after KO (Patty's sister) treated us to ice cream. We were (pardon the pun) busy bees today.

Family Weekend

One-Hundred-Thirty-Four.

Woke up way too early today and drove to St. Thomas to visit with Patty's family. We went out to eat at the Twisted Fork. I had chocolate chip pancakes, yum. We then went to the St. Thomas football game. It was weird being at another MIAC school and hearing the score of the GAC game over the loudspeaker. I left her family for mine at halftime and ended up taking a long way home because I didn't know that 35W was closed between 280 and 694. I hung out at home until RS, JS and TS came over for dinner. My mom made a delicious dinner that was very thanksgiving-esque. After dinner we watched the twins loose the last game of the ALDS. Phillip, TS and I also played some Dominion. Believe it or not, I didn't take any pictures until right before I went to bed. This is a photo of some really awesome in-ear monitors that my brother bought. I had never heard music that good before.

Didn't Really Take A Picture Today, But Nadeau Did...

One-Hundred-Thirty-Three.

After class, I went to econo with Patty and BN. He was playing with my camera while we were driving, which turned out to be the only pictures for today.

I also got my picture taken for the student spotlight on the admissions page of the Gustavus website. It might not be updated yet, but it will be. Watched a ton of TV with DS, DM, AB-G, and Patty. Community is the best.

ALDS Playoffs & B-Dubs

Patty and I went to B-Dubs tonight after the Twins lost the second game of the ALDS...grr. We played beer trivia against some MSU folks until the battery died on the trivia thing. Anyway, it is Theatre Thursday:

Nobel Conference II

One-Hundred-Thirty-One.

Today was day two of the Nobel Conference. I watched all of the lectures today and actually went to one of them. I wished I had gone to the second lecture of the day and found out if I was a super taster instead of the one I did go to, but oh well.

Today was also the first baseball playoff game between the MN Twins and the NY Yankees. I watched the Twins get beat with Patty and TA.

Nobel Conference I

One-Hundred-Thirty.

So, today started the Nobel Conference. We do not have classes over Nobel and we are highly encouraged to watch some of the lectures. This years topic was "Making Food Good" and was all about nutrition, taste, obesity, and sustainability. I watched most of the first lecture (Food Politics), had to miss the second (Genetic Variability), and watched the third (Tying leptin to obesity). I missed the second one because I had to go to class (Profs aren't supposed to do this). After all of the lectures I went back to the arb to take more photos. I ended up following some wild turkeys around in the woods...

I also ran into someone who also does the 365 project. I had never met her IRL, so that was kind of cool. Later Patty and I went to the Nobel concert. There were lots of songs about food and some very strange German lyrics.

Fall Colors

One-Hundred-Twenty-Nine.

Class and work ended and Patty & I ate at the cookout sponsored by res-life (burgers, yum; free burgers, uber-yum) decided to go into the arb and snap some shots. Unfortunately, my camera died before I had taken the number of pictures that I wanted to take. I will go back tomorrow. KF, DS, DM, Patty and I watched "Accepted" tonight, it was exactly how crappy I expected it to be. Excited for Nobel tomorrow!

October Is Here.

One-Hundred-Twenty-Six.

Started the day with a writing assignment for Foundations of Western Theatre. I struggle through writing assignments as it is not one of my strongest skills. I made Sloppy Joes for dinner using the same recipe that my mom uses. We watched some TV and DM and I played a game of cribbage. I also noticed that our apartment goes through a ton of Mtn. Dew (as illustrated below).
